Mayhaw
Mayhaws (Crataegus aestivalus) make fine bonsai, featuring small leaves and lovely white flowers (we don’t guarantee flowering). They are easy to train and take well to pot culture.
I collected this Mayhaw from the property of an acquaintance a couple of years ago. I have let it grow out in order to get it well-established. Mayhaws don't root as vigorously as Riverflat haws, so I've held it an extra year to make sure it has a good root system. Aside from the leader, which I wired in order to put some movement into it, I haven't done any training. This will be a nice piece of raw material to work on. The trunk base is 2", and it's chopped at 12" from the soil. I expect it'll finish up at about 18" once in a bonsai pot.
