Bald Cypress
Bald Cypress, or “BC,” is one of the very best species for bonsai, and is sometimes called the King of American Bonsai. No bonsai collection is complete without at least one Bald Cypress.
This specimen was collected in January of 2021, as the smaller tree of two. The larger one died, but this one did well and I let it get established throughout the last growing season. This year I decided it would make a nice, small flat-top bonsai, so I styled and potted it into this Byron Myrick round. The base of the tree is 1.25" at the soil, and it's 25" tall. I think it has the look of the swamp about it.
