True that, John. Chinese elm is such a great species for bonsai, it’s a shame what cheap commerce has done to them.

As I love Elem trees the ones that you see for sale on the internet are without exception very ugly. As for yours lots of room for future development. Really like the second photo
as it shows awesome growth. Lots of room for future shaping and wiring styles. It has a great chop and good branch placement.
