This specimen was lifted in May 2018, with the intial styling done that fall. It’s a very nice twin-trunk specimen, and is on its way to being a fine bonsai. The trunk base is 2″ across both trunks, and the higher chop is at 12″. I expect this tree to end up at a finished height of about 18″.

Age about 7-10 years.

Here’s a nice Sweetgum I lifted in 2017. I left it alone to grow for a season, then this year I felt it was ready for a bonsai pot.

The branch set is nice, and will begin ramifying this year. The trunk character is just terrific. I think the Chuck Iker round it’s potted in complements the tree perfectly.

The trunk is 1.25″ in diameter; height of the tree is 18″ from the soil.

Age about 7 years.

Here’s a terrific natural twin-trunk I lifted earlier this year.

Nice complementary movement of the trunks. Growth is strong now, and it should be ready for wiring a little later in the season.

The main trunk is 1.5″ in diameter and it’s 14″ to the chop.

Collected last fall, this Sweetgum was recently slip-potted into this fine Byron Myrick oval, which should complement the fall color nicely.

The trunk is 1.5″ at the base, and it’s 13″ tall.
